  • Eider Upper Jacket Decommissioning Programme - Public Consultation

    TAQA Bratani Limited (TAQA) has submitted, for the consideration of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, a draft decommissioning programme for the Eider Upper Jacket (“the programme”) in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998 (The Act). It is a requirement of the Act that interested parties be consulted on such proposals.

    The facility covered by the programme is located in UK block 211/16a in the Northern North Sea (NNS).  The platform lies approximately 310 km north-east of the UK coastline and 4 km from the UK / Norway median line.

    The programme covers the removal of the Eider Upper Jacket from the topsides removal cut height at approximately 15m above Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT) to circa 127m below LAT.

  • East Brae Upper Jacket Decommissioning Programme - Public Consultation

    TAQA Bratani Limited (TAQA) has submitted, for the consideration of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, a draft decommissioning programme for the East Brae Upper Jacket (“the programme”) in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998 (The Act). It is a requirement of the Act that interested parties be consulted on such proposals.

    The facility covered by the programme is located in UK block 16/3a in the Central North Sea (CNS). The platform lies approximately 193 km north-east of the UK coastline and 4 km from the UK / Norway median line.

    The programme covers the removal of the East Brae Upper Jacket from the topsides removal cut height at approximately 19m above Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT) to circa 97m below LAT.

  • Brae Alpha, Brae Bravo, West Brae, Central Brae and Pipelines – public consultation concluded and pending final approval

    Brae Alpha is a production platform consisting of a topsides and sub-structure.  West Brae and Central Brae are subsea fields that are tied-back to Brae Alpha for processing and export.  Note that Brae Alpha Rig 1 and Brae Bravo topsides have been extracted from these documents and approved separately.

  • East Brae and Braemar – public consultation concluded and pending final approval

    East Brae is a production platform consisting of a topside and supporting sub-structure.  Braemar is a subsea well that ties back to East Brae for processing and export to market.  Note that the East Brae topsides and Braemar field have been extracted from this document and approved separately.

  • Devenick Subsea Installation and Pipelines - Consultation

    TAQA Bratani Limited (TAQA) has submitted, for the consideration of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, a draft decommissioning programme for the Devenick subsea installation and pipelines (“the programme”) in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998 (The Act). It is a requirement of the Act that interested parties be consulted on such proposals.

    The facilities covered by the programme are located within UK blocks 9/28c, 16/3a and 16/3e in the Central North Sea (CNS). The field lies approximately 310 km north-east of the UK coastline and 4 km from the UK / Norway median line.

    The programme covers the Devenick installation (wellheads and xmas trees, wellhead protection structure, manifold, subsea isolation valve and cooling spool protection structures) and the associated pipelines and umbilicals.

  • Cormorant Alpha Topsides Programme - Approved

    In accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1988, the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED) has approved a decommissioning programme for the removal of the Cormorant Alpha topsides.

    The facilities covered by the Cormorant Alpha topsides draft decommissioning programme are in Block 211/26a in the northern North Sea, approximately 103km north east of Unst, Shetland and 41km from the UK/Norwegian median line.  The facilities comprise forty modules split over two levels, these sit upon the cellar deck, which is attached in one piece to the four concrete legs.

  • Tern and North Cormorant Topsides Decommissioning Programmes – Approved

    TAQA Bratani Limited (“TAQA”) has submitted, for the consideration of the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, draft decommissioning programmes for the removal of the Tern and North Cormorant topsides, in accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998. These documents are available by clicking the links below. The public consultation for these proposals has concluded and final approval is pending.

    The facilities covered by the North Cormorant topsides draft decommissioning programme are in Block 211/21 in the northern North Sea, approximately 112km north east of Unst, Shetland and 35km from the UK/Norwegian median line.  The facilities comprise fourteen modules split over two levels, these sit upon the module support frame, which is attached in one piece to the jacket.

    The facilities covered by the Tern topsides draft decommissioning programme are in Block 210/25 in the northern North Sea, approximately 169km north east of Lerwick, Shetland and 47km from the UK/Norwegian median line.  The facilities comprise fifteen modules split over two levels. The Modular Support Frame (MSF), which is an 8-legged structure attached in one piece to the jacket, acts as a base support for the two levels of modules.

  • Eider Alpha Topsides Decommissioning Programme – Approved

    In accordance with the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1998, the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED) has approved a decommissioning programme for the removal of the Eider Alpha topsides.

    Early planning has commenced, and the execution window of 2022 is the earliest possible date for removal through to project completion in 2028.

    The facilities covered by the Eider Alpha topsides draft decommissioning programme are in Block 211/16a in the northern North Sea, approximately 118km north east of Shetland and 32km from the UK/Norwegian median line. The facilities comprise five modules split over two levels and an integrated deck structure, containing a wellbay, process bay and utilities bay. The integrated deck structure then supports a flare boom, a drilling derrick, drilling module and living quarters with helideck.

  • Brae Alpha West Drilling Rig (Rig 1) - Approved

    Brae Alpha has two drilling rigs installed, one of which is redundant and must be removed to enable plug & abandonment of all wells on Brae Alpha.  Approval for the decommissioning, removal and disposal of the redundant drilling rig was granted in 2020.

  • Brae Bravo Topsides and Flare - Approved

    Brae Bravo achieved cessation of production in December 2018. It is a production platform consisting of a topside, bridge linked flare with supporting sub-structure.  Approval for the decommissioning of the topsides, flare bridge, flare tower and flare jacket were granted in 2018.  Decommissioning of the main platform sub-structure is subject to a separate Decommissioning Programme.

  • East Brae Topsides and Braemar - Approved

    East Brae is a production platform consisting of a topside and supporting sub-structure.  Braemar and Devenick are sub-sea tie backs to East Brae for processing and export to market.  Approval for the decommissioning of the East Brae topsides and the Braemar field was granted in 2020.  The East Brae sub-structure and the Devenick tieback are subject to a separate Decommissioning Programme.
